Following days of demonstrations in Los Angeles sparked by ICE arresting large groups of illegal immigrants in areas with large Latino populations, Protests have spread across America. To date, protests have erupted in San Francisco, Seattle, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Austin, New York, Atlanta Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington D.C.

In the midst of all this, there have been demands from many people involved in the protests for Black Americans to get involved. Some of those demands have been condescending, some have been downright insulting, and many Black Americans are pushing back on offering unconditional support because of anti-Blackness expressed by members of immigrant communities, in their home countries and in the United States.
